What theories or approaches inform your work?

Working from a Person-Centred perspective, I believe everyone has the capacity to grow and change, given the right conditions and support. I will not tell you what to do, but will do my best to support you in working through any difficulties you may be experiencing and to give you the space to make the decisions that are right for you.

I draw on a range of different counselling approaches depending on client needs. This includes Psychodynamic theory, Attachment theory, Transactional Analysis and some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) tools.

Why are you a therapist?

It means I get to do a job I love!

I studied Psychology at University and, despite spending many years working in a corporate environment, always maintained an interest in people and mental health. I started out as a relationship therapist 15 years ago, working with couple and individuals, then trained as a clinical supervisor.

Humans are relational beings – we don’t exist in isolation – and I believe the therapeutic relationship is key to healing. As a therapist, I have a privilege of being able to offer clients an environment where they will be listened to, accepted and respected, regardless of what they tell me. Where they can work through whatever is troubling them at their own pace.

What do clients come to therapy with you for?

I work with the person, not with a diagnosis or label and therefore work with whatever issues you bring.

Clients come to therapy with a range of issues such as their relationships, anxiety and depression, stress, confidence and self-esteem, history of childhood abuse, family problems etc. Whatever it is that is troubling you, you don’t need to go through it alone.

How do clients arrange to work with you?

Filling in the form below is probably the best way to start the process. Then I can email back with all the information a client or couple requires. I work Mondays and Tuesdays 8am - 7pm. I work in person - face to face sessions at our Inverness Office, online via Zoom or by telephone.

How many sessions can a client have?

This very much depends on what the client is bringing to therapy and what they hope to get out of sessions. I offer both long and short term work, and review progress with clients at regular intervals.
